Yep, its up on those 2 empty lots, one behind Bed Bath and Beyond, and the lot south of Burger star.

Last I knew this was still in the planning stages, can you tell if they actually got commits for the hotel and the restaurant?

Looks like its going to be a Hampton Inn.

http://www.omaha.com/article/20130524/M ... en-village
Cindy Gonzalez World-Herald staff writer wrote:The 106-room Hampton Inn near Aksarben is part of a larger redevelopment plan that spans about eight acres bounded by 72nd, 70th and Pine Streets and Poppleton Avenue.

Currently that area is vacant, but City Planning documents say a three-story assisted living facility would be built on the site along with the four-story Hampton Inn and about 10,000 square feet of commercial retail or restaurant space.

The retail area would rise south of the Shoppes at Aksarben, and the hotel would be south of that, said Darren Hicks of Access Commercial, one of the developers involved. He said the hotel would be completed by the summer of 2014.

This should be a nice addition to the area.  Another hotel will only help the neighborhood restaurants and shops.

With UNO's arena on the way, it might service that in some instance.

We finished up the plans recently. I believe they have all their permits. I am sure you will see Dicon getting to work when the ground thaws.

So what's the word on the townhomes that were said to be moving in? That latest rendering looks like a single building instead of individual homes.

DC red tape is holding up one part of this project. There is nothing bad, only a matter of time at this point.

Nothing really new, but the latest from Grow Omaha this past Saturday.

The Hampton Inn is 4 stories, 102 rooms.
The Strip mall is full, Starbucks, Jersey Mikes, and a soon to be announced restaurant.
The 2nd floor office leasing is underway, no tenants announced yet.
Construction should start in February if the weather is good.

I had a meeting out at the Hotel and Retail site today. They have part of the Assisted Living staked out and were working on staking out the Hotel when I was there. They were also working on unloading re-bar for the assisted living foundation. There are also 4 job site trailers on site. Everything should be starting actual construction any day now.

Drove by last night and noticed that a restaurant is opening in one of the retail bays. Can't remember what it was but their signage is up. Anyone know what it is?
