I noticed this yesterday from a distance, and had to check it out again today. The building at 15th and Jones, directly across from the Joslyn Lofts, has been used as a warehouse for a number of years. It is the Kimball building if I remember correctly. In fact, I want to say the Kimball company had something to do with laundry equipment but I might not be right there. Anyway...the building is completely empty, and every floor is strung with construction lights. The old windows in this building are huge, so it is lit up like the proverbial Christmas tree at dusk. I'm thinking something going to happen with this property.

I've been hoping this was going to be converted into something soon. You have to love that awning... ornate marble for a freaking laundry. Could you imagine a Suds 'n' Duds being built new like that today in the suburbs? (or anywhere for that matter)
That's right across 15th St. from the Max, and just around the corner from Club Joy, and very close to The Run, Flixx, Gilligans and DC's. If this gets remodeled it would really lend itself to the vision I have of south downtown becoming a thriving gay/gay-friendly/multicultural neighborhood.
I hope it happens.
Plus, Bluestone's office is right at 15th and Jones, so I would think that they would have an interest in the well being and development of their "neighborhood".

Both 1502 and 1510 Jones will be condos and are being built by a local developer (which I am always glad to see). Look for parking to be indoor with access on from 15th and also some parking indoor on the 1510 Jones building with access either from the alley or Jones or both.
The 1502 building is the large one on the corner, while the 1510 building is the smaller one right next door to it.
Unfortunately, I do not know when these are expected to come online for sale. However, I know they are working extensively on the construction right now.
I noticed Thursday they are already popping old windows out of the 1510 building.

BTW, should this thread be moved to the Development section?

That's sad. It doesn't sound like he was wearing a hard-hat.
And it's "south downtown", or the St. Mary's/Leavenworth corridore that we hope to become a thriving/diverse gay neighborhood. Not South Omaha. Although, I would love it if Omaha's latino population developed a unique gay scene. heck, maybe they already have.

And please don't say "SoDo". I think you just gave me a nose bleed.

Naw! I saw D'Shaun last week, and there was no sign of a "fro". Better call it "NoFroDo".

I’m glad you are growing it back out, maybe then those security guards that walk by us in silence (not know what to do fear) wont even bother leaving their desk while we are sneaking into the 25th+ floors..
