The Pizza Ranch

Post by thenewguy »

I heard from a family member this weekend that there are talks of Pizza Ranch coming to town.  Has anyone heard anything about this?  I haven't seen anything online and nothing here (assuming i didn't miss it)

I really don't see why people get so excited about yet another chain-based formula eatery invading the area. (yeah I know, b*tch b*tch b*tch!)

{Reaching down and grabbing for third rail ...} I wonder if they will be open Sunday? :)

Have you ever seen a movie where the characters wanted to go to a certain nice restaurant, but couldn't, and had to settle for a less classy, gimmicky one instead. That's what I think of when I think of Pizza Ranch.

Metro crossing has it as pending on their site plan, along with T.J. Maxx.

I'm not familiar with the Pizza Ranch.  Is it a chain?  Has anyone eaten at one before, who can give us the low-down?

Strangely good chicken and pretty good pizza if all you are expecting is a buffet place.  Its a local chain I think started in Iowa, its primarily in little towns.

Thanks.  I'll have to give it a try.

.. and if this is the first move by the chain into a large market, then good for them!  I love to see a local(ish) business take that step up.

I never read the Council Bluffs forum..

I've seen Pizza Ranches all over Iowa... but like Piccadilly Circus Pizza, I've never had the nerve to try it out.

They turned part of the old Baker's into a Pizza Ranch and the rest looks to be some sort of office space.

I just don't understand why you would call a pizza place a "ranch".   It seams idiotic.   Maybe that is who they are aiming for.

Probably for the same reason some call a pizza place a "hut". :)

Meh, their food is OK, but I wasn't really impressed with any of it.  Plus, my skin burns when I'm in there.....they're kind of Church-y....play Christian rock over the speakers and stuff.

Not that I was in a big hurry to try it, but that seals the deal on me not doing so. Thanks for the heads up.

Apparently a few Iowa Pizza Ranches are big on the 'Pub primary tent show circuit.

Here are the Mission and Vision statements from their website:

http://pizzaranch.com/about-us/?id=29
Our Mission

Establish every Pizza Ranch® as a business ministry opportunity where our guests receive a legendary experience through quality food and service; and where we take a positive leadership position in the community we serve and equip our employees with tools to lead happy and productive lives.

Our Vision

To glorify God by positively impacting the world we live in.
On the music, most popular Contemporary Christian Music doesn't really mention or even allude to Jesus, so I'm sure you'll be fine.

I think you read that wrong.  Christian music != Christmas music.  I hate contemporary Christian music.

I don't know what contemporary Christian music is, but the music they were playing was certainly alluding to Jesus and or religion.  Enough that I could clearly figure out it was Christian music.

Many Christians, including myself, don't like a lot of Contemporary Christian music either. But I don't like most contemporary to begin with so...

Pizza Ranch on 84th & Center?

Post by OldGeorge »

Couldn't find it it "search" so I'll just post it.  Mods, merge this if need be.

Is the Pizza Ranch near 84th & Center open yet?  If it's open, is it good?  I've been to several Pizza Ranches in Iowa, and love their buffet.  If this location is open, is the restaurant good?

It opened several months ago.  I have no idea if it is good or not.  My guess is not.

One benefit of that place is that you can have mashed potatoes as a side dish with your pizza.
