Localmotive Food Truck

Post by Globochem »

This new food truck is downtown tonight and every niight at 12th and Jackson from 11PM on!!!!  I happened by and tried what they call "rounders" which are essentially stuffed fried sandwiches in a sourdough bun.  And they are fantastic!  What a tremendous addition to the Old Market.

They claim they will be at the same location 7 nights a week! They mentioned they will be more mobile during lunch hours.  With Lot 2 and J Coco, this has been a very exciting month in Omaha dining.

Dining review: Localmotive offers upscale street food, but not for the early-to-bed crowd

Sarah Baker Hansen World-Herald staff writer wrote:What Localmotive Food Truck serves is original street food. It's crafted to be portable but doesn't skimp on creativity. It's street food for the thinking person.

You haven't had it yet?  Besides the nightly service, they are at the Farmer's Market in the old Market on Saturday Morning.  I caught them at Hayneedle the past Wednesday also.

Didn't know that.  Hope they make it through the winter and afford those fixes.

They posted on their FB page a few days ago that they are planning on opening again, but are still looking for a new truck.

Don't remember if this was posted here, but during our tour of Borgata, Zac mentioned an agreement with Locomotive set set up camp behind Borgata and selling foods in front. I don't know what this means about what their needs are in terms of being mobile...

They'll have to buy a new truck. Will be fundraising for that, hoping to open by July.

After a lengthy and unanticipated delay, the new truck is now safely secured at the Localmotive Central Station. We know, this is where you say: "FINALLY!" We said it, too. Important updates will be coming out steadily: finalized menu, service schedule, Kickstarter Backer info, and more. Until then, take a look at the new truck, nestled into its new home. We hope it is as comforting to you as it is to us.

I was getting ready for bed at 1 am on a Friday night, just poured myself a mug of a Reserved Barley Wine from England, had already taken my contacts out, but I just read on the interwebs that a local food establishment just reopened their doors. This would be the only thing to ever get me to drive from 144th and Blondo to the Old Market at such an hour - it was Localmotive back in business.

This is Halloween 2014, and downtown is full of a variety of strange creatures, but this food truck was a welcome long lost sight to see this evening, and I was ready for Rounders, so I ordered my favorites, an order of 3 Gyros, and order of 3 Cordon Bleu, and an order of Summer Frites.

The Gyros rounder comes with Lamb, Feta, Tomato and Onions with a traditional Tzatziki sauce which was perfect for that cold evening weather. The Cordon Bleu with Chicken and Ham, Swiss Cheese comes with a Honey Mustard sauce and again was delicious. And the Summer Frites comes with Parsley, Shallot salt and Vinegar, and I got the herb aioli sauce... Localmotive is indeed a very welcomed return to the late night downtown food scene!

Glad to have them back down there. Really helps to liven up that corner of the Old Market.

Granted, it was Halloween, but the Old Market, as cold as it was last night, was rocking at 1:30 am. With Localmotive anchoring the SE corner, and Maria Bonita holding down the NW corner, you had the best of street foods happening last night.

As I mentioned, we did stop there after the Airport. Place was packed.

The B.E.L.T was as good as ever! Can't wait to have another one!
