Never heard of it.  Is it locally owned?

Cilantros mexican restaurant

Post by HuskerDave »

Tried this the other day and was really impressed with the food.  I had the Texas Chimichanga - yummy!

144th and F street in the Millard area.  It's a new place, across F from Charlies on the Lake.

I really don't know.  I didn't see anything to suggest it was part of a chain.

I have eaten there, and was very impressed.  And yes, it is part of a small Midwest chain, I believe out of Kansas.

Prices are in line with similar chain operations, like la Mesa.

They just updated the menu, and I think they raised the prices when they did so; but still not too bad.  Entrees around $8-$10 each, and good sized protions.

I disagree with pretty much everybody here I guess. It's La Mesa with a different name. As far as I'm concerned, Rivera's serves the only decent Mexican West of 72nd.

My two visits to the restaurant were good.  Not worth a drive clear across town, but worth it if your in the neighborhood.

I have a couple of questions, John. Your bio says, "John has owned and operated numerous restaurants, and opened four new restaurant locations." Can you please tell us what restaurants you have owned and the 4 you opened?

Thanks.

There is a new Cilantro's opening where Stokes use to be at 114th and Dodge next to DJ's Dugout.

Signs are already up.

I had the Texas Chimachanga at the 114th and Dodge location today. Maybe a little too salty, but otherwise good. Came out faster than I expected. Wait staff was right on top of everything. I think they are used to business lunch, where people come in and get food and take off.

Yeah, but all the microwaves were made in Mexico.

Went there today for about the fifth time. Great food. I had a fajita burrito with black beans substituted for refritos. My wife had a pork chimichanga. Both were great. She had a Midori marguerita that was great.

114th and Dodge. We now eat there over Fernando's. Broader menu and better flavor. The marguerita menu is better as well.

It's in the former Godfather's/Brewburger's location in that strip mall where Spirit World used to be.

I'd expect it to be open in April.

This will be a great addition to the neighborhood. I don't care for Fernandos.

I guess I didn't realize their 114th & Dodge location in Miracle Hills Park closed. When did that happen? I used to work out there and so I was frequently grabbing lunch in the Miracle Hills area, but I haven't in years so I'm a little out-of-touch with the area.

That entire strip mall has been "Closed" for quite a while. I'm not sure exactly when Cilantro's closed, but its been quite a while.

I went to the one on 144th a couple days ago and enjoyed it. I always thought it was better than the one on 114th, but I don’t know when that one closed.
