This was a Rumor on Grow Omaha over a year ago, but it looks like it is finally coming true
Cheddar's (L Street Marketplace)
Grow Omaha Radio Show on Facebook wrote:Cheddar's is planning to build an 8,000 sq. ft. restaurant just east of a Verizon Wireless Store in the L Street Marketplace (northwest of 132nd & L). Based in Dallas, Cheddar's freshly prepared menu favorites include chicken tenders, salads, hamburgers, sandwiches, steaks and delicious desserts. The closest existing locations are in St. Joseph, Missouri and Overand Park, Kansas.

If it's like the one here by me in Florida, it's a solid restaurant. Food is pretty good and reasonably priced. Nothing I would ever really go out of my way for, but I wouldn't avoid it either.
We ate lunch at Cheddars on a Sunday about 2 years ago, on a whim. We didn’t expect to like it, but we did. The service was friendly and the food was well cooked and tasty.

Either way, I'm there. We go out of our way to eat at the 120th & Dodge location, and there's almost always a wait there.

I think you mean the 120th & L location…

If they go to 120th & Dodge for Cheddars that would explain the wait!
For the record NEBUGEATER does not equal BUGEATER !!!!!!!

True statement. Even applies to the Chick Fil A that’s actually located off 120th & Dodge, lol…

Not sure there's an outlot at VIllage Point to build a standalone location at...perhaps remodeling the old Pier One location on the east end?
Did anything ever go into the old Cheeseburger in Paradise?
Yes we would frequently eat there after catching a film next door. The atmosphere and menu were both fun, the food was okay, but the service could be atrociously slow.

Yes. It’s now a “LOCAL Beer Patio and Kitchen”. I had lunch there last month. Nice place…

So this new Cheddar's address is LOCAL. A little odd that LOCAL hasn't announced its closing yet though....
Hi Ben. In answering Prog’s question, I’m referring to what is now occupying the old Cheesburger in Paradise location at Village Pointe- which is now “LOCAL Beer Patio and Kitchen”. Not anything to do with Cheddar’s…

Yes, but this week's Grow Omaha newsletter did have the LOCAL address as the site of the new Cheddars....
They mentioned on Grow Omaha this past weekend that they have broken ground on the Cheddar's at Village Pointe, so it sounds like it is officially happening.

wish I could say I liked Cheddars. Not relly ever had a good experience there.
I've never had what I would have called a bad experience, I've just never found anything that compelled me to return.
They're sort of in that same space as Chili's, Applebee's, and TGI Fridays, "Casual Dining" or whatever we're calling it. The food isn't any better or worse than the other brands in that category and neither is the service. What I think always set Cheddar's apart was it tended to be the more affordable option in that category. The downside is they don't build a lot of them. So, while a metro area may have 3 Chili's and 3 Applebee's, for example, it would only ever have 1 Cheddar's. To be honest, I was surprised to hear they were building a second. They seem to be one of those companies that would rather have customers lined out the door than build another location (Cheesecake Factory is notorious for this).
Though, their business has waned in recent years. I went to a Cheddar's in Tulsa back in probably 2011. It's was 3PM on a Saturday and it was a 45 minute wait to be seated. It wasn't a new location and they weren't short-staffed. Even the Omaha location doesn't have the lines and waitlist it used to have. I think this whole category is suffering pretty hard these days. Which makes it even more surprising they're opening a second location.
We just went there a few weeks ago for the first time in probably 4-5 years. I remember when they first opened, the prices were very low especially for the amt of food that you got. Like everywhere else that has changed. Still a decent value but nothing amazing like it used to be. The food overall was decent but since we live about 30 min away, probably not going to make it back for another 4-5 years.

Where's the location going at VP? I imagine it would need to be towards the west end by the theater and other restaurants.

The new Cheddars will be a new freestanding building in the parking lot north of Local. Local isn’t leaving.
