damn I loved that spot in blackstone! Why are they leaving?
I read in the Kathmandu Instagram comments they announced they’re moving downtown, next to The Green Room on 16th st
That's great news for downtown, especially 16th Street. To bad Cumbia closed; it would of been a nice mix of ethnic restaurants right there.

At least it doesn't necessarily rule out things like the overhead lights because that section will be off-wire. But I'm not sure if the bar on top of the cars would drop down when not in use.

Usually, a streetcar's connecting pantograph will fold down when it's running off-wire.

Yeah, for sure. Throw in Doozy's and Table Grace Cafe, and 16th and Farnam/Harney is a very good food spot. Really wish Alexander Payne would finally do something with King Fong's. That has been closed for too long.

I apologize if this has already been covered but have there been any plans released for the Fyzical Therapy building on 39th and Farnam?

Noticed there is a new bar that opened in the last couple of months or so on the west end of the Blackstone Corner building - Lazy Leopard (no doubt named after the Lazy Leopard Lounge of years past).

Are the city design standards for Blackstone insufficient(or being violated)? The trashy neon window signage among a few businesses have gotta go.

Neon is art, and it’s slowly going away because so few people are interested in picking up the trade. There was a time when there was way too much neon, but that’s no longer the case.

Neon = Trashy. Wow. That hurts me a little bit right to the core. Maybe I am just nostalgic about the days when neon was more prevalent. I just hope I go before the LaCasa's Pepe sign does.
My old signature got too old. So old it was getting almost as old me as me. Yeah, it was up there in years.

The world needs MORE neon signs.

If you don't like it, you probably don't want to go to this museum in Vegas.

Ok, let me clarify...

I LOVE neon signs! There are a lot of great classic neons around Omaha.

What I was referring to rather is the neon paint used on windows. Like that typically seen at pawn shops or tanning salons. After a closer look, I don't think any of the Blackstone's establishments are using paint exactly but rather vinyl adhesives that have a very similar look. Some are done tastefully but there a number of them on Farnam with obnoxious colors that really clash with the historical look and feel of the district. The food hall, Early Bird and the karaoke bar are the biggest offenders.

I hate the Blackstone district for my own reasons, not because of buildings having life though.

Yes that’s a fantastic museum to visit. If you go do it at dusk. Then you can see the signs lit up.

Almost a reason to go back to Vegas.

But at $35 its a terrible only reason to go.

I really need to check out Neon Demon in Toronto someday though.

There's one in KC, https://thelumineonmuseum.org/
I haven't been here (drive by it sometimes) but they plan to have 50 signs up when complete.

a new place called Muki Lounge has opened up in the former Sports Hall at 3852 Farnam St.

Taste of India will be moving into the former Farnam house Brewing Company location.

New Sign is up for Koen Japanase BBQ & Sushi and should be opening soon.

The former Meatball building has sold and work should be starting on a new concept there somewhat soon.

Begs a question. If the owner of a longstanding, popular, critically acclaimed vegan restaurant on Farnam Street up and closed the place, why open a new, untested vegan restaurant just a few blocks to the west?

They had leasing issues in MTC, but I agree. Why rebrand? I don't know the individual too well, but maybe there was a business partner of some sort for Modern Love that got cut out on the new spot.
