Creighton just got a commit from 2021 4-star guard Ryan Nembhard. He chose Creighton over Ohio St, Stanford, Florida, Seton Hall. He is ranked as the 89th best recruit for 2021 and 12th best point guard. I love that Creighton is preparing for when Marcus Zegarowski leaves to go pro. The Big East has done wonders for recruiting and the Jays view from the outside world.

Creighton just got a commitment for a walk on from the Chicago area. He will have a full scholarship. He is 6'0" guard who in high school finished with these stats: 22.4 ppg, 5.3 apg, 4.0 rpg. Pretty impressive numbers coming from the Chicago area for just a preferred walk-on!

Should be a great lineup with all the team in the Big East. The only thing I hate is that teams will no longer play each team twice during the regular season.

Big East Is Among Multiple Leagues Considering Bubbles For Basketball Season; IMG, Omaha In Mix
The Big East Conference — which does not have football and on Wednesday postponed all fall sports — is one of several leagues considering setting up bubbles for its men’s and women’s basketball seasons, multiple sources said.

Possible locations include the CHI Health Center Arena in Omaha, Neb. — Creighton’s home site — and IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. where the WNBA is currently playing in a bubble amid some complaints about living conditions. Additional locations are also being considered, the source said. It remains unclear if men’s and women’s basketball in the Big East would be in the same or different bubbles.

Wow. This is interesting indeed. Thanks for posting!..

Indeed a fascinating way to use CHI Health Arena downtown.. I know this is only a conceptual plan right now, but it is feasible. Glad to see the league would choose the Omaha arena as the “Bubble site”...

If Omaha is able to land this, although it's all hypothetical right now, this would be huge in so many ways for the city. To be named this early on in the discussion is great. If they pursue this and can do it safely, please bring these kids to Omaha to play.

I think this is a great idea, especially with the 600-room Hilton attached to the arena. Not to many other arenas have that, plus all the other hotels within a few blocks.

I agree..

Considering one would think the “obvious” facility the Big East would choose first for this basketball “bubble” idea would be Madison Square Garden.. I think Omaha’s CHI arena being mentioned at the forefront speaks volumes as to how well respected Omaha, Creighton and the arena are in the conference..

And as skinz mentioned, it doesn’t hurt that a high quality attached 600 room hotel feeds the convention center without anyone having to brave the elements and leave the “bubble”...

This seems to one of the reason for choosing the Sanford Health's Pentagon in sioux falls -- Sanford Health is official mobile COVID-19 testing partner of PGA

Creighton trades the Bahamas for South Dakota in relocated Battle 4 Atlantis tournament

So much for the sunscreen and flip flops. Creighton’s Thanksgiving-week trip to the Bahamas has reportedly been canceled.

The Jays will instead head to South Dakota for their marquee hoops event.

CU is one of eight teams signed on to compete in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament this year. Duke, Memphis, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Utah, West Virginia and Wichita State are the others.

But due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event will be moved from an island resort to the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

Wow this is an impressive list....5 of the top 20 players in the Big East are from Creighton, including #1 Marcus Zegarowski.

Ranking the Big East’s Top 20 Players for the 2020-21 Basketball Season
19. Christian Bishop

The 6-foot-7 Christian Bishop is a high-flying forward that led Creighton in blocks, rejecting 1.1 shots per game. Bishop averaged 8.6 points and 5.3 rebounds, while shooting an efficient 59.2% from the field and only 57.9% from the free throw line. There is going to be an opportunity for Bishop to expand his role offensively as an upperclassman.

18. Damien Jefferson

Jefferson is a high-energy player and a tough defender that Coach Greg McDermott relies on to guard the other team’s best player. Jefferson was a key piece on a Creighton team that finished seventh in the final AP top 25 poll. At 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, Jefferson is a talented finisher that made 61.5% of his two point field goals, while averaging 9.4 points per game and led Creighton in rebounds averaging 5.5. The question for Jefferson is if he can develop a respectable three-point shot as he went 21.7% from distance a season ago.

11. Denzel Mahoney

After starting his career at Southeast Missouri State, Mahoney won the Big East’s Sixth Man of the Year award in his first season at Creighton. Mahoney averaged 12.0 points and 3.1 rebounds in only 22.5 minutes per game, while shooting 42.1% from the field, 35.8% from three, and 83.8% from the free throw line. The 6-foot-5 Mahoney has been a bucket-getter his entire career and his numbers should go up because of an uptick in minutes and with Ty-Shon Alexander going pro.

7. Mitchell Ballock

Mitchell Ballock has all the intangibles you want in a player, as he’s a winner with a high basketball IQ. Coach Greg McDermott runs Ballock through endless screens and rarely rests him as he led the Big East with 36 minutes per game. The 6-foot-5 lefty sharpshooter will be gearing up for a big senior year after averaging 11.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.1 assists on 43.9% shooting from the field, and 43.5% from distance last season.

1. Marcus Zegarowski

Zegarowski is the straw that stirs the drink for Creighton’s fast-paced and high-scoring offense. Zegarowski is a great scorer off the dribble, can fill it up from deep, and is a good playmaker, finishing third in the Big East in assists with 5.0 per game. Last season, Zegarowski earned second-team All-Big East honors, while posting 16.1 points on 48.8% shooting from the field and 42.4% from deep along with 3.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals.

Creighton just picked up another 2021 recruit in 6'4" shooting guard John Christofilis. He is from a Catholic high school in the Seattle area that
won the class 3A title in state. He has battled some foot injuries, but is now healthy. He was ranked even higher before the injuries but is a 3 star prospect. He was also recruited by Colorado, San Diego, Washington, Washington St.

He reminds me a lot of Mitch Ballock. Not the most talented athlete but can really shoot it and has a high basketball IQ. Both things that Creighton will need next year.

For those of you begging for it:

UNO @ CU......Dec 1st

Gunna be another blowout like the past few times.
It'll be the 44th all-time regular-season meeting between the schools, but first in the regular-season since November 30, 1995 (a 74-71 CU win). Creighton leads the all-time series 40-3, with Omaha's last win in the series coming on Dec. 11, 1982. The teams have never competed against each other in a game that counted as Division I competitors.

Nice to see Zegarowski and others getting some national attention:

Ranking the Top 100 And 1 best players in college basketball entering the 2020-21 season
4. Marcus Zegarowski, Creighton: Our preseason pick for Big East Player of the Year is an elite 3-point shooter. But he's also an excellent distributor with a knack for creating shots inside the arc. Zegarowski took huge strides as a sophomore along with the Creighton program. Now both are poised for a season in the spotlight as he will be the star of a Bluejays with lofty aspirations. -- David Cobb

66. Mitch Ballock, Creighton: The Bluejays will need Ballock's 3-point shooting to remain excellent. The senior averaged 11.9 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 3.1 apg, but it was his 43.6% 3-point accuracy that helped the Jays clock in a 118.2 offensive rating at KenPom last season, No. 3 in the sport behind Gonzaga and Dayton. -- MN

70. Denzel Mahoney, Creighton: The closest margins between any teammates on this year's list is with Mahoney (12.ppg, 3.1 rpg) and Ballock just four spots above. Bluejays coach Greg McDermott tells me there's basically no wiggle room between the two for CU's second-best player honor. -- MN

Creighton with a huge pickup of TyTy Washington. He is an explosive guard from AZ that can shoot lights out. It was down to IN and Creighton and CU won out.

Also there are rumors that this signing will help to attract Mason Miller, who is the son of former NBA player Mike Miller. Mason is 6'8" and would fit perfectly in CU's system.

Stay tuned.

This is a joke, he is getting almost $8 million to leave. I know that most of the Creighton fan base is happy to see him leave, although it would have been nice to beat him again in the Sioux Falls tournament. I am so glad that McDermott doesn't act or carry himself in any way close to Greggggggg.

I thought that might happen, but it is crazy seeing some of the the other guards selected ahead of him. Would have been great to still have him in a Jays uni this year.
