Prestige World Class (Del Mare restaurant) CLOSED

Post by charlie123 »

The Prestige is now converting to an Italian Seafood Restaurant. Is there room in Omaha for this? --especially at this location. I was surprised to see that they built a wall in front of the bar and took away from the look of the lounge area by doing so. It'll be interesting to see how it does.

PRESTIGE SETS COURSE FOR THE SEA

Nichole Aksamit, OWH wrote:The sprawling restaurant and nightclub that is Prestige World Class will become two sea-themed venues, Del Mare restaurant and the Reef at Del Mare lounge, in early September.

“The Prestige has been perceived as a nightclub with great food,” owner Gene Graves said. “But it hasn't been seen really as a place to dine. So we're changing the menu, and we're also doing a big renovation and a big physical separation between the lounge and the new restaurant.”

Chef Don Doty said Del Mare (pronounced dell-MAR-ay, Italian for “of the sea”) will feature seafood, seasonal specials, from-scratch desserts, pizzas with authentic Italian ingredients, and a fresher, lighter version of Italian cuisine.

One can only hope this theme will work. I refused to go to any restaurant that had the audacity to call themselves "Prestige World Class." The name just made me want to slap somebody.

I'm told that Del Mare is done and new owners are on the way. New name will be Brass and will have music. Stay tuned. I know its 20 20 but I knew this crew would drive Prestige in the ground. 8)

??? The World Herald reported that Del Mare opened in September. Do you mean "done" as in completed?

Well the owners said they had been working on the concept for 5 years. And to let it flop in less than 5 weeks??? My gosh they obviously didn't even give it a chance. That doesn't make any sense. They spent some $$$ on their lavish web site.

Yea, the new owners are leasing the place and will keep it branded Del Mare until Jan 1 when it becomes Brass. They (4 partners) are already making changes. Head Chef is gone as well as a few managers.

West O restaurant sold for offices

By Ross Boettcher
WORLD-HERALD

http://www.omaha.com/article/20120411/M ... or-offices

After an up-and-down tenure as Prestige, Del Mare, Prestige World Class and Courtney's Grill House, the 10,000-square-foot building overlooking Pacific Springs Golf Course is set to become a light-filled office space.

The property at 810 S. 169th St., near Pacific Street, was purchased by Lanoha Development Co., which plans to gut the building of its restaurant and bar equipment and make some minor tweaks to the exterior — including the landscaping — to make it an attractive location as an office, said Jason Lanoha, vice president of Lanoha Development Co

The property is outfitted with a 5,000-square-foot patio and walls of large windows offering natural light, features not all offices can offer, Lanoha said.

He said there are a couple of possible uses for the space. Lanoha Development officials have had discussions about the need for additional medical office space in that portion of west Omaha, and there has been interest from established Omaha branding and marketing firms. Lanoha declined to name specific companies..
