Sounds like Westwood Plaza might be sold off instead of being up for sale…

Auction will be held this summer for thousands of posters from Omaha movie theater
An Omaha movie theater may be reopening to the public. Westwood Cinemas 8, located near 125th Street and West Center Road, had planned an auction for digital projectors, theater fixtures, equipment and more. However, according to The Auction Mill, that is on hold.
There will still be an auction this summer featuring more than 5,000 movie posters, according to The Auction Mill. "We have now come across a major movie and film memorabilia collection from another owner which we intend to pair (with) the movie poster collection," The Auction Mill wrote on Facebook. Westwood Cinemas 8, which opened in 1989, was a value-priced theater and offered movies after its first run.

I finally got around to dining at the Ahi Sushi place, located near the Half Price Book Store. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but it is quite spacious and attractive on the inside. They have a multi page menu, so even if you aren’t into sushi (or even Japanese food in general) there are dozens of menu options. Our servers were super nice and the food was delicious. Some of the best sushi prices in town, too.

For those who didn't know, this is the old Okinawa Sushi, moved from 125th & L and rebranded.

Well the former Commercial Federal/ Bank of the West building has new life…if I recall it is to be the home of a Grateful Green Hemp & THC store. Complete with drive through lanes!

I remember a funny review from a lady of Japanese descent who walked in and noticed all of the employees at this "Japanese" restaurant were speaking Chinese. So, she left. That was several years ago. I have no idea if that's still the case or not. I'm not quite that picky either... lolalmighty_tuna wrote: Mon Oct 10, 2022 4:24 pm For those who didn't know, this is the old Okinawa Sushi, moved from 125th & L and rebranded.

Now all they need to do is convert the gas station into a Mega Saver or whatever that |expletive| hole gas station chain is called. Then you can get your vapes, THC/Hemp and prepaid burner phones all in the same place. So much more convenient. I mean TB is already there for the munchies.nativeomahan wrote: Mon Oct 24, 2022 4:13 pm Well the former Commercial Federal/ Bank of the West building has new life…if I recall it is to be the home of a Grateful Green Hemp & THC store. The Bakers fuel center is in the Bakers parking lot. It's down a bit from the new THC store. Maybe you are thinking of the old fuel place across the street (on the Saigon side).

I live in this area..
The new Vape location is right across from the strip where Starbucks, Subway and Dickies BBQ is..
There are gas pumps in the Bakers store lot, then down the street on 120th just south of West Center, is the Shell Gas Station. Those are the only 2 gas stations in that specific area…
Next closet would be the Casey’s off 132nd and West Center, or the Anderson’s Amoco at 120th and Pacific and the Mega Saver right across the street (which for years, was a Phillips 66). There is a car service place on the south of West Center at 122nd which also has fuel pumps,.but I don’t count thot place because 99% of their business is servicing cars. I can’t remember the last time I saw someone actually fueling at the location. Now waaaay back in the day, 1970’s and 1980’s, it used to be an Amoco Gas station…

Re: Westwood Plaza (120th and Center)
The only reason I’m glad Mega Saver built at 120th and Pacific, is that with their lower gas prices, the Anderson Amoco right across the street, with higher quality fuel, price matches..So I’m playing anywhere from 10 to 30 cents cheaper for higher quality fuel than most other places within the 3 to 4 mile orbit of my residence…nebugeater wrote: Wed Oct 26, 2022 6:14 pmOmaha Cowboy wrote: Wed Oct 26, 2022 3:10 pmTo be fair to your memory, that Mega Saver opened up just 2 years ago. My personal "favorite" Mega Savers are any locations they acquire that has a car wash. They end up filling these with random |expletive|, trash, boxes, etc. It adds a lot to the ambiance of the store, making the overall customer experience worth it!nebugeater wrote: Wed Oct 26, 2022 6:14 pmOmaha Cowboy wrote: Wed Oct 26, 2022 3:10 pmTo be fair to your memory, that Mega Saver opened up just 2 years ago. Isn't there some relationship between Tobacco & Phones 4 Less and Mega Saver? Either the former evolved into the latter or the latter bought out the former. Either way, they're generally trash.
I prefer QuikTrip as they're typically the cleanest gas stations with the friendliest employees. Also, QuikTrip never makes any employee work alone which is kind of a big deal at 3 AM. Casey's is alright. I enjoy their pizza but the rest of their operation is average at best. Kum & Go seems like it's desperately trying to be QuikTrip and falling short. Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh are pretty nice.

Yes, from my understanding they are owned by the same family (or different members of the same family), though this is mostly secondhand knowledge after working a decade in alcohol distribution and chatting with the reps that had those accounts.ChadJK wrote: Fri Oct 28, 2022 8:50 am Isn't there some relationship between Tobacco & Phones 4 Less and Mega Saver? Climbing gym planned at former Omaha movie theater site; pickleball courts proposed for 120th and Fort
A former movie theater is poised to become an indoor climbing gym under a proposal presented to the Omaha Planning Board at its Wednesday meeting.
The climbing gym would move into the site of Westwood Cinemas 8. The movie theater, which sat in the plaza near 125th Avenue and West Center Road since 1989, closed in spring 2022.
In addition to indoor climbing, the 24,225-square-foot space also would house yoga and other exercise equipment. Plans also show a kids climbing area, conference room and coffee bar.
The climbing gym would offer “bouldering,” where climbers scale shorter walls without the need for harnesses or ropes. Thick padding is placed under the climbing walls to ease any falls.
The plan was approved unanimously by the board and will move onto the Omaha City Council for final approval.

So, unless this is Approach hunting for a new space, it would make for the fourth major climbing facility in the city that I know of. Frankly you can call me surprised Omaha can support that many, but as a casual climber I'm all for it.
Major walls in Omaha:
- Approach (72nd & L)
- UNO (Campus Rec Building)
- LifeTime Fitness (168th & Center)
- MW Climbing (Westwood Plaza - Planned)

Here's the planning board packet. So, it'll be bouldering only. Must help with liability insurance to not have the full carabiner type climbing facility. Also, something that doesn't close at 8PM! They are planning to be open 'til 10.

Ah, indeed. That's somewhat of a bummer for longer routes but hopefully bouldering is only their initial offering. Thinking about how tall some theatres are, it is a great repurposing.
Also, updated the list to reflect the name, MW Climbing
