Without Internet Sports betting they will be at a big disadvantage. On top of that they need a great partnership or app. Council Bluffs seems to be different as I'm guessing they get a lot of Nebraska gamblers that can't use the app.

It's an old rule from the 60's when it was easier to throw games. Most states have that rule in place for in-state college sports. From 1960 to 2001 the Vegas casinos would not take UNLV bets.thenewguy wrote: Wed Oct 25, 2023 7:33 am what's the reason for being unable to bet on home games in nebraska?
I would guess Iowa Casinos are only capturing 10-20% of total bets. Without online betting that will only be 1-2% in Nebraska. Those other 98-99% of bets made with a bookie, allow for bets on Nebraska schools.

Warhorse launches Omaha's only legal sportsbook
People in Omaha no longer have to cross the river to bet on sports. Warhorse Omaha launched the city's only legal sportsbook Wednesday. "I mean, it's about time," Brian Everett said. Voters approved the sports betting law in 2021. People cannot bet on Nebraska teams unless they're playing out of state. Sports betting is also only legal at the Warhorse locations in Omaha and Lincoln. The temporary simulcasting facility at Horseman's Park was full of people thinking that same thought.

Sports betting window opens in Omaha at Horsemen's Park
Legal sports betting has come to Omaha Nebraska. Lynne McNally, Director of Government Relations for WarHorse Casino, was on hand for the Grand Opening of Omaha's first Sportsbook. WarHorse Casinos & Gaming launched its sportsbook Wednesday at Horsemen’s Park, 63rd and Q Streets. Betting will take place in a temporary building on the racetrack infield until the casino opens next fall. Ken Mallory, a tribal council member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, and David Anderson, vice president of the Nebraska Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association, placed the first two bets

Drove by this yesterday. There is a giant garage up and a pretty big crane on site. I forgot they were doing stuff here so it caught me by surprise as I drove by. Sorry, no pics!

Construction update video:

I guess I didn't realize they were building such a large building on the end of the existing building. Looks like the grandstands are gone too. I'm sure the control tower or whatever you call that will be in the new building under construction.

Re: Warhorse Casino (62nd & Q Street)
This looks like a substantial property. I’m not a casino person, but I suspect they will take a chunk of business away from the CB casinos.
