The Killers is a pretty big band for the venue. Is this going to be standing room only?

Steelhouse Omaha announces opening band coming in May

Steelhouse Omaha is getting closer to its opening in May, and on Monday, Omaha Performing Arts announced which band will kick off its opening activities. The Killers will perform on May 12, 2023. "We wanted to present an incredible opening evening that will demonstrate how we’re adding to Omaha’s entertainment options," said OPA President Joan Squires in a news release. "

Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 17, at 10 a.m. at ticketmaster.com. All tickets are $75 for general admission. Omaha Performing Arts said more activities and events for the two opening weeks will be announced in the coming weeks. Steelhouse Omaha is located near the Holland Center in downtown Omaha at 1100 Dodge St.

It'll be a great show. But based on ticket prices on this tour for smaller venues, it'll also be expensive af. They're playing a casino venue (cap 3,000) between OKC and Dallas where tickets in the pit are $235/ea.

Yeah, but the ticketmasters of the world will gobble them up before we can and jack them up to $200+.

So disapointed OPA went with Ticketmaster. Ticket omaha worked just fine for all their other venues. I will gladly spend $75 to see the Killers, bit I won't spend more.

You should be able to purchase tickets from the box office and avoid Ticketmaster, fees and all.

I wish they hadn't selected Ticketmaster as their vendor. I like paying face value for my tickets from the venue. I will gladly pay OPA $ 75.00 for Killers tickets. But I will not pay Ticketmaster more. Ticket Omaha works great for their other venues, why not keep using it?

Yes, this was a choice that OPA made and a really poor one.

Yep, online 40 minutes before the sale. Couldn't get 2 tickets. Tried multiple times. Looked elsewhere and they are at least $ 200. I was really hoping OPA would be different... Sad

Good news for the future is Live Nation and Ticketmaster are probably going to be broken up and have a much higher level of scrutiny from the government.

If they were sold via TicketMaster I wonder how many of them ended up in fans actually intending on going.

What a racket (TicketMaster). They make me want to never try to go to a concert or show.

I don't like Ticketmaster, but the venue would have been the ones who allowed 8 tickets per transaction, which is ridiculous. I had no interest in seeing the Killers for $100 per ticket. I do want to see the venue though. But, first show at a new venue with a relatively popular legacy act and you allow 8 tickets per transaction in a venue that only seats 3k? That's beyond stupid management. If every person bought the max, that would have only been 375 transactions. I'm sure there are some extremely happy scalpers right now.

My feelings would be if you have a venue with a cap of 3000 ppl then you'd want to limit tix to 4 per transaction, max. I get there are families and groups larger than that, but you draw the line in the sand at something reasonable. I agree, it was kinda dumb to let buyers purchase 8 per order.

If they do that with all well know acts that book that location I guess I can count myself out for all of them. I think if you make a reasonable effort (ie, log on at the time they go on sale) and try like heck to buy a couple of tickets then I don't think you should have to pay over face value on the reseller marker. But I'm old enough to remember standing in line at counters in grocery stores to buy concert tickets at the TicketMaster register before the interwebs took off.

Yep. Homers and Bakers were your options if you didn't want to drive down to The Civic, or to the Ranch Bowl. Sokol didn't do on site sales, if I remember right. The Omaha music scene has changed a lot and we are now blessed with some great venues and shows we'd never get before, but there are still head scratching decisions that are made that drive me nuts.

Looks like they are playing Yoshmi all the way through too. Album concerts are great, you usually get a really long set from the headliner.

The Flaming Lips set to play Steelhouse Omaha this summer
Cinderella front-man Tom Keifer also planning summer concert in Omaha

New venue Steelhouse Omaha continues to roll out concert announcements. This week’s big name: The Flaming Lips. The psychedelic rock band is planning an Omaha stop on their Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots tour. Tickets for the June 16 concert go on sale via Ticketmaster on Friday. Steelhouse Omaha also announced this week that hard rock act Tom Keifer with special guest L.A. Guns will perform at 7 p.m. July 19 at the venue on their Live Loud 2023 Tour. Those tickets also go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. Keifer was the frontman for 1980s heavy metal rock band Cinderella. The Killers were announced earlier this month as the first to headline at Omaha’s newest mid-sized concert venue. Tickets for the May 12 performance went on sale at 10 a.m. Friday and sold out within minutes. Tuesday’s announcement comes days ahead of ticket sales for Fleet Foxes, set to perform at Steelhouse Omaha in July. Steelhouse Omaha, located at 11th and Dodge streets, will be the third venue on O-pa’s lineup behind the Orpheum Theatre and the Holland Performing Arts Center. The venue can accommodate up to 3,000 people.

I keep missing this guy whenever he tours, and I'm not familiar with his newer stuff, but "Get Happy" has to be one of my favorite rock albums; great songwriting, good licks, snotty lyrics, the whole package.

Any word yet as to whether the venue will have an Open House for citizens to go in and have a look around? I think it would be a marvelous idea.

i thought i read something to that effect on their website. Maybe not necessarily an open house, but there is a free family weekend coming up, which would sort of accomplish the same thing
